SkyLinks: a New Platform for Reflection on Cryptocurrencies and Blockchain
Blockchain and the cryptoeconomy require explanation. They also need to be sold to the public, to encourage adoption of a technology that can – and should – change the world.
More than other technologies, the validity of the new currencies is inherently linked to their mass adoption. Many pieces already exist that simplify the cryptographic models and network structures that underlie the new currencies.
A great number of writers have described the application of blockchain to existing industries or speculated about how it could change banking, shipping, logistics, insurance, artistic copyright, remittance transfers and a mass of other things.
At ShellPay, a guiding idea is that new technology should be linked to the wider social fabric and to all parts of the human experience.
Therefore, as part of the Skyledger Media suite, we want to introduce SkyLinks.
These are short articles that take a step back to link the ideas underlying blockchain to other topics, including things like history, philosophy and social studies. The area explored might relate to a technology or to the humanities; the consistent theme is to connect an innovation that is relatively untested to a meaningful human experience of the past or present.
We invite members of the crypto community and any reader with an idea and ability to write to contribute SkyLinks pieces themselves, which we will publish on one of our social channels. As well as exposure for their work, contributors will receive a payment.
SkyLinks pieces are not restricted to discussion of blockchain technology, but rather take this new form of networking and economics as a starting point for consideration of larger human questions. All serious technological progress demands reflection, and SkyLinks gives an opportunity for motivated writers to do just that.
